Building Progress for the New Iron Hill Science Center
July 7th, 2015
is with great pleasure and pride that the Delaware Academy of Science
can now say that the Iron Hill Science Center building is complete. It
has been a journey of more than a decade for us to reach this point,
but we have at last succeeded. The building is up and we have begun the
process of outfitting it, with help from the generous donations of
local businesses, charitable organizations, and individuals. Thus far
the conference room and offices have been fully furnished, and several
display cases have also been donated. The Academy is extremely grateful
to all of these donors for their generous contributions to the Science
This is a wonderful start, but there is still a long
way to go. While funding has been secured to pay for the building in
full, and for the furnishings I mentioned above, there are still a
great many things left to do for the Iron Hill Science Center to become
operational. To that end, on Saturday, August the 29th, the Academy
will be hosting a gala to help raise funds for the furnishings of
the new facility. We invite you to come and join us for an evening of
food, drink, tours of the Science Center and Museum, walks on the
trails, raffles, and a silent auction. Tickets are on sale now, but we
do expect this event to sell out, so get yours soon!
For those of you who may not wish to attend the gala, but still wish to lend your support to the project, please click here to donate.
On behalf of the entire Executive Council and the membership of the
Delaware Academy of Science, thank you all very much for your continued
encouragement and support of the Iron Hill Science Center.
